I am proud of the McNair students, their families, the teachers, and all staff members for working together to maintain a clear focus on student learning. Remember, this is a temporary situation, and we are looking forward to having our students return to the classroom as soon as we are safely able to do so. Information regarding who your child’s teacher will be this year as well as information regarding the schedule for when you are to pick up your child’s computer and textbooks has been sent out to parents through Parent Square. All of our students are expected to log in daily and are expected to participate in all aspects of the daily schedule to ensure they continue to learn and grow in all areas. Each teacher will have a Google Classroom where all independent assignments and learning resources will be posted. Students will be receiving daily assignments geared to their grade level and assignments must be completed in the time assigned by the teacher. The students will have daily interaction with the teacher via Zoom sessions along with independent work that will need to be monitored by an adult to ensure optimal learning. Remember, school begins Thursday, August 20th. In order to address the academic needs of the students and to support the continuum of learning of our students during this unprecedented time, Compton Unified School District will continue to provide academic instruction through the Distance Learning Platform. They are concerned about potential gaps in student learning as well. Teachers have truly missed interacting with their students and collaborating with one another. The McNair staff is excited to connect virtually with all of our students through distance learning as we begin the new school year. We believe that our McNair students are the best and the brightest, and as a school community, we will continue to excel in every way. We know that we have much work ahead of us to provide each student with a rigorous educational program that continues to meet the individual needs of each student.
